What the hell happened to...
Posted About 1 year ago by Vigo the Carpathian

About 2 months ago, there was a trailer for a game I was looking forward to more than Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, GTA IV and God of War 3 combined.  It was a fighting game featuring Marvel characters (at least Hulk, Captain America and Spider-Man) beating the crap out of each other in huge, destructible environments.  Here's the video:

Since I saw this video, however I've heard absolutely nothing about this game from any of the traditional gaming sources.  I know that EA Chicago, the developers who brought us the Def Jam series and were slated to bring this new Marvel game hav been closed.  Not sure if that means that the project has been scrapped or if it's been moved to another house.  Anyone heard anything about this?

All I'm gonna say is there better be some Iron Fist love. (sounds dirty but it's not)
Speaking of "what the hell happened to...", where's the DC and Marvel MMO's that were put into development years ago. Jim Lee has been putting out slightly less than awesome work ever since DC forced him into character design for that game. Yet, here we are. No DC MMO. No Marvel MMO. Where is the love?

For me, the greatest part of UA was the 4 player co-op option. I have friends over a lot and we wasted many sundays seeing who could steal coins and level up quicker. I was banned from using the Hulk because I would dominate.

M:UA got an average rating of about an 8. It's generally considered a good if not great action rpg. You sure you aren't thinking of Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects? That game was a hunk of garbage. In fact, that game gave hunks of garbage a bad name.

A few months before that video went up, I was living in Chicago. I went to a local comic book shop and struck up a conversation with the owner. He let it slip that someone from EA was in there a couple weeks before, buying up massive amounts of Marvel comics. They guy told the owner EA was working on a Marvel fighting game unlike any other Marvel game before. His description of the game had me stoked.

I'm going to be a sad puppy dog if the game has been scrapped.

Really, almost everyone I know who played Ultimate Alliance loved it, myself included.

Wow? I think you're the first person I know who liked UA. To met it didn't do a single thing better than X-Men Legends. In fact, I felt that the voice acting and story telling were worse.

Ultimate Alliance is amazing. I played it through at least 6 times. This looks like it could put UA to shame.

yeah,I played Ultimate Alliance and Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer and really wasn't pleased with either of the titles.I guess I would pick Ultimate Alliance out of the two If I was stranded on a desert island with only these two titles to choose from...

After Ultimate Alliance, I don't think I care.
