New Releases

Note - After much deliberation, it has been decided that PC release dates are just too unreliable to try to predict, so from now on, this column will deal only with console and handheld platform releases. Plenty of licensed properties get the multi-platform treatment this week. We're also treated to a quirky little PS2 strategy RPG, an "extreme" baseball title, a PSP update of one of the most important games in history, and some worthwhile handheld action to boot. Is it possible that the summer gaming season has finally kicked off? I submit that it has. PLAYSTATION 2 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - 6/25 The Bigs - 6/25 Ratatouille - 6/26 Transformers - 6/26
!!Pick of the week!!
Grim Grimoire - 6/26 An oddly compelling mix of pc strategy and console side scrolling wrapped around a Harry Potter-inspired story of adolescent magical fantasy.

PSP Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - 6/25 The Bigs - 6/25 Super Collapse! 3 - 6/26 Ratatouille - 6/26 Tomb Raider Anniversary - 6/26 Final Fantasy - 6/26 TraxxPad - 6/26 Hot Wheels Ultimate Racing - 6/27 Steel Horizon - 6/26 A handheld battleship strategy sim. I don't know if it's any good, but at least it's not another puzzle game.

XBOX 360 The Darkness - 6/25 Developed by Starbreeze, the Swedish geniuses behind Chronicles of Riddick, The Darkness follows the exploits of the comic book anti-hero of the same name. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - 6/25 The Bigs - 6/25 Hour of Victory - 6/25 Transformers - 6/25 Ratatouille - 6/26 Overlord - 6/26

PLAYSTATION 3 The Darkness - 6/25 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - 6/25 The Bigs - 6/25 Rainbow Six: Vegas - 6/26 Transformers - 6/26 Licensed game veterans Traveller's Tales bring Cybertron's heroes and villains to just about every platform under the sun. They made Lego Star Wars, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

WII Pokemon Battle Revolution - 6/25 The Bigs - 6/25 Ratatouille - 6/26 Driver: Parallel Lines - 6/26 Escape from Bug Island - 6/26 Transformers - 6/26 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - 6/25 Of all the many versions of this movie tie-in, the Wii version has the most potential. Casting Wingardium Leviosa with the Wiimote sounds like fun.

NINTENDO DS Touchmaster - 6/25 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - 6/25 Super Collapse 3 - 6/26 7 Wonders - 6/26 Ratatouille - 6/26 Nervous Brickdown - 6/26 Hoshigami Remix: Running Blue - 6/26 Vegas Casino: High 5 - 6/29 LifeSigns: Surgical Unit - 6/26 Based on this screenshot, I can't tell if this game is about playing doctor or "playing doctor". Either way, I'm in.
