- Team Fortress 2 Overhealer Medigun Axed
- Posted 5 months, 2 weeks ago by WiNG
According to a pasted e-mail from VALVe on the official Steam forums, the development team has scrapped the Medic's proposed Overhealer alternative unlockable weapon.
Citing balance reasons and in response to one poster's concerns about the viability of melee-oriented Pyros, it looks like the tentative gun that was slated to permanently double a teammate's HP won't be making an appearance.
This is great news, in my opinion, since doubling the HP of any players would kill classes that have alternative combat tactics (Pyro, Sniper), but it only begs the question... what will the promised Medic unlockable weapon be?
Some ideas:
- Electric Bonesaw
- Defibrilator
- Syringe Rocket

Mellow, Valve took great care to balance the classes in this game. They do lots and lots of math and research to make sure that people aren't exploiting any strengths or weaknesses.Without a stronger character to help, the Medic is weak. The relationship makes the healer strong. I guess I'm trying to say that every character is different, and that makes for the fun playing experience.
I guess you could make a game where all the classes are the same and always have the same guns to be completely fair, but then I think you'd be playing Paintball. Then why would you need video games ever...
Ooh! Virus gun would be cool. Combat Medic from SW:G, anyone?
Mellow, I don't know what game you're playing, but Medics/Doctors/Clerics/Healers are in probably half of all online games.
VIRUS GUN. CHRIST.
cheaters never prosper. How can you take a game seriously that has some little medic guy running around handing out health all the time. So basically you and your medic could travel around holding hands the whole game. Why not just make a character named Nuke that can destroy every enemy on the map with the push of a button?
