Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - first impressions
Posted 13 months ago by you_can_talk

Well, I went out today and picked up Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.  I had played the multiplayer demo before, so I knew what to expect.  I only glanced at the single player, which I will be getting into later, but it looks like loads of fun, and I'm hoping that it evolves into me running my own team and giving orders.

The multiplayer is as good as always, and with the level system they have implemented, it makes for a highly addictive experience.  Upgrades are received for the more people you kill with certain weapons and even in certain positions.  This does make it difficult for people that buy the game late, because you will be dealing with a bunch of lvl 30 lieutenants all with automatic M4A1 carbines.  Although, after putting a couple of hours under your belt, you will pick up a routine and be up there with the rest of them in no time.

I bought this for the Xbox 360, and as we have all come to expect, the graphics are amazing.  I think the Call of Duty franchise has done a very successful job with their latest installment and I can't tell you how good it feels to finally be out the the WWII era.

Yup, it installed and plays on my $450 dollar cheapo compaq laptop that has AMD dual core 1.8ghz 64bit processor, a gig of ram, and an Nvidia Geforce Go! 6100.

Now, why it won't work on my desktop with a Radeon x1600PRO...no idea.

The specs really aren't that bad at all, I think the minimum video card is a Radeon 9800 which is like 30 bucks these days. I remember CoD2 was probably the most efficient game I have ever installed on my computer.

My computer is not enjoying it very much..looks like I'll have to restore again, and loose Battlefield 2142, because I lost the serial number. :(

I wanted to pick it up for the PS3, but I just couldn't imagine playing this game without rumble. It really is amazing so far, the first prologue mission is incredible. I hope the levels get a little lengthier, but COD has never really been about that. So far, it's looking really good.

Multiplayer tonight anyone?

I've completed 3 of the single palyer levels so far. It's absolutely incredible. I acutally like this better than halo 3. that's just me though.
