Stressful console

Stress from a console...

You know, before I got a 360 I never though I'd ever think of this, but now that I got one since October, I can safely say that this console has been one heck of a stress source to me :P

I'm not used to have games glitch on me that much, unless I'm on PC which I come to expect nowadays, but on console?

But with the RRoD scare going around with the 360, It seems the stress level increased tenfold, every time a game acts a bit odd, you get that nagging fear that this might be "it".

First, it was Blue Dragon, froze between 2 cutscenes....  CUTSCENES! (somewhere before Christmas)

Next was Bladestorm, always froze at the beginning of the exact same battle for some reason. (around Christmas)

What not to say about glitchfest Saint's Row, freezing when entering a store? (Pretty much ever since I got the game in November)

Yesterday, it was Samurai Warriors 2 Empires, sometimes the game would stutter like hell (for 1 or 2 secs), shadows acting weird.

I think the worst is the in most case, those glitches, are the developpers' fault, not the console. But the way the internet is, it's so hard to find actual info about these without falling upon the usual "Oh! better brace yourself for RRoD soon" crap it's disheartening.

Also, to add to the stress even more, comes the damn DRM crap.  Get your 360 replaced (by them), and you lose all DLC content you BOUGHT! Seriously, don't jerk me around, switching all DLC from one XBox360 ID and GamerTag to a new ID is NOT WITCHCRAFT :P It's not rocket science either, it's a god damned simple database manipulation, don't kid me around about it saying it's HARD or complex. If it is, then you people seriously need to change that system because it does not make sense!.

DLC ->  Gamertag+XboxID

see? simple.

And worst of all, you can actually see your own history from their own website, so don't tell me that they don't have a way to move the ids around easily.

What they need now is a pretty good class action suit, that's probably the only thing that's going to make them move.

Kind of wish Microsoft would stop being asses and redesign the whole thing already dammit though.

(EDITED)

In the end, the other thing ticking me off, is that whenever you get these kind of issues with the console (and it's true with ALL the consoles) is that you can't really talk about to anyone because you'll fall most of the time in 2 categories.

the 1st: You'll be labeled a troll because there can't be anything wrong with the system

and the 2nd: You'll get answer from the other kind of troll who'll just blurt out crap about how bad the console is and how much of an idiot you are to have got one.

so in the end, you're still stuck with the problems, and no valid answers on how to deal with them.

Proof? (the negative rating I just go on this blog post ;)  )

My PS3 hasn't glitched on me yet, but I've heard that after the last patch it's frozen up once or twice on my friend during TF2.

But I'm still ok with having a computer and not a XBOX360. Cheers to playing warhawk all day, m8

Yes, I guess the negative rating I got was from some pro die hard 360 fan or something, thinking I was dissing the console.

Which I'm not, the console may be a wreck quality wise on the hardware, but on the software side, it's worth more than the hassle of owning one.... (hmmmm does this make sense at all?)

Hmm... your Xbox 360 froze during: Blue Dragon, Bladestorm, Saint's Row, and Samurai Warriors 2 Empires?

I think it is doing you a favor, bro.

Nah, but I understand. I still play a ton of PC games, so I am used to this stuff, but I could imagine that things not always working 100% could be quite jarring. Worth it, though, but a pain.

Well yes, right now I do personally think that the games are culprits in my case. I don't have any other games doing this either.

Besides, Microsoft does have the 3 years warranty about the RRoD issues. It's just the DRM issues that are troublesome, though my Xbox is always online it wouldn't be an issue to me.

It's just that with all the reports going around, it kind of gets under your skin after a while. (especially with such a big game as GTA4 coming out next week) and summer coming (higher chances of overheating?)

Personally, I'm still surprised Microsoft didn't get sued over all this already, this is usually so much in the US mindset to do this ;)

I cant say i own a 360 but am thinking of getting one, after reading this blog im not to sure... Any chance it could be the games or rather the discs scratchs and what not, i Found that used to glitch up most of my games (console and PC) anyway, just thought i'd throw down my ideas.
