Stressful console Part 2
Posted 4 months ago by Zantagor

You know, sometime I think I may be suffering from Hypochondria disorder for consoles.

I think it may be due to GTAIV coming out next week or something, game I will definitively buy on day 1... (or 2...., or whenever I'll be able to get it since I don't preorder)

But I'm fearing more and more that this is gonna be the game that kills my 360 somehow.

And I blame you internet, and all of you people writing your horror stories about you Xth RRoDed 360.  (which I'm pretty sure a good numbers are from dumb people just inventing that crap to scare others, and see? IT WORKS!)

I'm still under warranty anyway, so it shouldn't bother me much.  But I don't know.  According to said internets, having 1 RRoD puts you in a never ending spiral of madness or something.

Something I wonder though, is if this is the same in Canada though, if the crap will hit the fan as easily with their Support, or if the canadian Microsoft branch is actually "better".

I fear the day I'm gonna have to call tech support about this, and get some indian tech support guy who can't speak either english or french (yes, because I do speak french ;)  )  try and "solve" my problem.

The more I think about it, the worst it gets too, which isn't a good thing ;P

At worst, I'll just wait until the "jasper" comes out and figure out a way to upgrade to it without the DRM Hassle that's gonna go with it.  But then, it'll probably die early because of the crappy drive in it or something.

All this to lead to 1 question.

What the hell Microsoft was thinking when they cut so many corners to release early???

Don't answer that, because I know the answer, but it still doesn't change the fact that this came back to bite their ass in the end.

Like, why save a few cents off the disc drive by NOT including that little rubber thingy around the lens to ... you know make sure it doesn't scratch disc if there's ever a fault in the drive....

Or better yet, why the hell did you shove the CPU/GPU UNDERNEATH THE DRIVE???? surely that red light in your head about HEAT would have gone up or something.

I love the 360 for its games, but let's be frank, the whole thing is literally a design mess. I think next 360 I'm gonna buy, I will open the whole case, put the innards as far away from each others, and then put everything back in a nice fire proof cardboard box!

Oh yeah, I also posted about the Samurai Warriors 2: Empires "glitch" I was having, and here's an answer I got... You see what I mean by people being... quite helpful...

"Does it just happens on your SW disc? Have you try using other game discs to see if the glitches are on the others? If so, you got a videocard problem popping up. Plus I don't see my copy of the game having any problems."

My answer?

up to now, yes, only this game.... happens like once in a blue moon, usually last less than 1 second, happens when a shitload of peons appears at once, or when a 3 person musou is initiatied. When I think about this, it seems to happen pretty much at the same area in time as when played on PS2, the game would slow to a crawl. (also seems to happen mostly near the end of a scenario, when there's a lot more armies than at the beginning)...

now the wait begins

Now I'm gonna go in a foetal position and suck my thumb until GTAIV is released.

yah, sure, i've experienced this in this game ....

"Also, it usually last a fraction of a second, happens mostly when there's a high amount of fresh troops(or 4+ officers) appearing in the vincinity. Seems only to happen near the end of a campaign too (when troops are much more numerous), and may happen like once in a blue moon. (and seems to happen mostly on specific maps)"

Finally ;) someone confirms to have the same issues with the game

Last night I couldn't get on Xbox Live for a few hours, and of course my paranoia took over and I thought "this is it! getting the red rings now!"

Everything was fine this morning, though.
