One of the most popular games ever released on the Atari 2600 receives a homebrew sequel 23 years after its release, courtesy of three independent developers. Designed specifically for the behemoth known as the Atari 5200, the title stays close to the original's distinctive visual style and exploration-based gameplay while expanding the scope to accommodate the more advanced platform and storage capacity afforded by the 32K cartridge size. Players explore a fantasy world populated by four kingdoms whose secrets are guarded by three persistent, insatiable dragons.
Controlling a yellow square, players must find the keys needed to open the castles while protecting themselves from the aggressive beasts. Yet getting to the castles may not be easy, with multiple hedge mazes, puzzles, and other perils waiting in each direction. The ultimate goal is to find and return the Enchanted Chalice to its rightful place in the Seashore Kingdom. To enhance Adventure II's replay value, the developers programmed the game so it randomly places the quest items in different locations each time the system is reset. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
