Airline Tycoon is a mission-based business simulation in which you manage a small airline company, and compete against three other computer-controlled opponents or humans via the Internet. Sixteen missions range from tutorial-like learning levels to advanced, comprehensive management modules. The objective is to gain more business (and make more money) than the other three airline CEO characters based at the same airport.
Most gameplay is directed through the interface of a small airport, where you add travel agencies, banks, bars, and other services to attract new business. A wide range of management functions are handled from your office, including adding, dropping, and expanding routes, ticket prices, passenger comfort, orders, cargo transportation, flight planning, setting up or renting new branches, staff, advisors, pilots, and flight personnel.
Running the airline also requires attention to airport expansion, plane management, equipment considerations, fuel, banking, food, advertising, a museum, customs (duty-free shop), and monitoring passenger thoughts. As missions increase in difficulty, you gain access to more tools to help make the goals obtainable. Airline Tycoon features 3D rendered cartoon-like characters and environments, and runs in real-time. ~ Michael L. House, All Game Guide
