Three Asian warriors team up to defeat and destroy Satan, who has awakened from a long slumber. This is the story behind Akuma: Demon Spawn, a role-playing game where the three heroes must use weapons and magic to defeat a demon horde.
Elim is a Korean swordsman and noble from the Shilla Dynasty who has a personal interest in this demon hunt. His fiancee, Shining, has been captured by demons and only by ridding the world of this menace can he be reunited with her. His strength lies in the blades that he wields.
Raening is a princess from the Chinese Tang Dynasty. Fight masters have trained her in martial arts but she is also lethal with a bow and a quiver of arrows. The third hero, Kusa, whose father was killed by demons, is a Japanese orphan trained by a powerful sorcerer. His magical powers are the strongest of the three young demon hunters.
Together, these three warriors comprise the Blood Trinity. They must find the Blood Sword, the only weapon powerful enough to destroy Satan's earthly form and send him back to Hell.
The quest to find the Blood Sword and Satan leads the heroes through dozens of uncharted regions where they must destroy demons and seal the portals used to get to Earth. Along the way, the warriors pick up weapons, magic items, and money. Shopkeepers in human villages buy and sell most items but some weapons and magic items can only be found during adventures.
Akuma: Demon Spawn allows players to save and load games for play during different sessions. The game supports Internet and LAN multi-player action as well as serial link and modem games. Game play is real-time with the characters fighting concurrently against enemies with AI support. Although the game ends when all three characters die, two of the warriors possess skills of resurrection while the third can learn the attribute during the game. ~ Michael L. House, All Game Guide
