Lead a squad of brave soldiers to confront wicked space monsters on their home turf in Aliens: Colonial Marines. Though set in the spooky sci-fi universe established in the 1981 Ridley Scott film Alien, this PS2 game features a new plot which takes place in the same time frame as the third film, 1992's Alien 3. Players choose from the ranks to build their squads, seeking a mix that will provide the varied experience and talent needed to overcome a variety of foreseeable obstacles in each mission. Each squad member has different abilities and a different morale level -- the rookie marine's special skills may be required to pull off a tricky rescue mission, but will he have the guts to stand and fight alongside his veteran teammates when the battle gets really ugly?

Expect the unexpected as a variety of alien enemies plot against the intrepid marines, including face-huggers, chest-bursters, and creatures that have never been encountered before. In the heat of the hunt, players can assign different formations to the squad or give individual orders directly. A varied arsenal is required to face these diverse challenges and players will need to put weapons like pulse rifles, flamethrowers, and "smart guns" to good use. The game features three full campaigns consisting of over 20 missions across five different environments, including the USS Sulaco military ship and a remote home planet of the alien nation. The release is also designed to make use of the PS2's 128-bit generation processing power and Aliens: Colonial Marines boasts massive environments, unique facial expressions, and advanced lighting and particle effects. ~ T.J.
