Based on the best-selling series of kids' books from Scholastic, GT Interactive Software has teamed up with the publisher to create two different games for the PC and PlayStation that share common characteristics while also emphasizing slightly different styles of gameplay.
The Animorphs are Jake, Rachel, Marco and Cassie, a group of children with the power to morph into animals as they battle the evil Yeerks and keep the world safe, while also dealing with the trials and tribulations involved with school, friends and parents. The book series by author K.A. Applegate has more than 32 million copies in print and there is a popular TV show airing on Nickelodeon.
In the PC game Animorphs: Know the Secret, the Yeerks' activities have slowed down and you must help the Animorphs discover why. You can switch among the four characters any time you want, using their distinctive abilities as the situation warrants. Their friend Tobias, who is stuck in hawk form, gives you clues as you explore nine 3D environments in search of an answer to the mystery.
Each character has a variety of animals available to morph into: Jake can become a tiger, rhino or Gorgonopsid; Rachel may choose between a gorilla, grizzly or Hork-Bajir; Cassie can turn into a wolf or an owl; and Marco has the choice of a polar bear or a bat. Each morph can help you in different ways as you wander through forests, caverns, buildings and mineshafts. Flying, swimming, running and jumping skills are all necessary to successfully complete the overall mission.
You can hear the characters speak with each other while you use the game journal to keep track of your adventure and take notes. ~ Brad Cook, All Game Guide
