Battleground 7: Bull Run covers two epic battles of the fought near Manassas, Virginia, during the early years of the American Civil War. In July 1861, the First Battle of Bull Run featured strategic delaying maneuvers by J. E. Johnston's Confederate forces against the significantly larger Union army led by Irvin McDowell.

In the interests of historical accuracy, the Talonsoft, Inc. designers have included the Battle of Blackburn's Ford, a small skirmish that occurred three days before Manassas. Over a year later, in late August 1862, Robert E. Lee's brilliant strategic victory over the Union army led by John Pope took place during the three day second battle of Bull Run. The battle at Brawners Farm, fought the evening before, is also included.

As expected in the Talonsoft Battleground series, Battleground 7: Bull Run is rich and deep in details of battlefields, tactics and uniforms. Turn-based and teeming with player options regarding levels of player or computer control, the game features multiple historical, as well as "what if," scenarios. The authentic period music score by Bobby Horton is worthy of note and the game comes with several multi-player options. ~ Michael L. House, All Game Guide
