Activision's Cabela's Big Game Hunter 4, continues the hunting simulation line first published by HeadGames in 1998. All four games of this series were developed by Elsinore Multimedia Inc., as was the bonus pack Cabela's Big Game Hunter: Double Barrel. Cabela's Big Game Hunter 4 evolves from those previous titles by featuring new weapons, larger outdoor areas, and 16 species of animals to be hunted.
The game includes options for difficulty level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced). The "Quick Start" provides a means to go instantly in the field and bypass the normal procedure of entering the lodge and selecting weapons and gear. If you choose to enter the lodge for specific equipment selection, you must take a safety test and then get your license. Following this phase, an interactive hunting guide then leads you on the hunt.
There are 16 species of animals to hunt including deer, elk, turkey, bear, caribou, and cougar. In addition to the standard hunt scenario, you can also choose to participate in a virtual target range, which is especially helpful in learning how to use the nine different types of weapons from one of 20 stands in the game. ~ Clayton Crooks, All Game Guide
