A strategy game based on the players ability to forge treaties and alliances, the ultimate goal of this game is to become king of the fictional land known as "Bretagne." Set in the years 1302-1417, this game is obviously a parallel to Britain's struggle to form a solid nation during this time.

The majority of game play takes place on an overworld map showing the movements of different groups throughout the land and their castle emplacements. Acquisitions must be made with a budget in mind, and the game even offers a "Black Market" for the acquisition of certain goods otherwise unattainable. The Siege of other castles is also a large portion of the game in which siege weapons must be purchased or built and take place from a "behind the action" point of view.

Since every situation can't be solved with diplomacy, one of the major tasks in this game is to build and maintain your own castles in your own territories. This not only entails the placement of your castle, but also the design and actual construction. Your military might must also be built throughout the game and the acquisition of new lands through military might must also take place.

In the end, whatever else has been done, must meet with the Pope's approval since it is he alone that can crown you king. ~ Andy Slaven, All Game Guide
