Glu Mobile's Centipede for cell phones is a straightforward take on the 1980 arcade game, with fast-paced firing and pixel-flicking evasive maneuvers. A segmented centipede descends, one row at a time, from the top of the screen. The goal in each game level is to destroy the entire centipede, down to the last segment. As the centipede becomes smaller, it moves faster, and if a middle segment is shot out, the centipede will spit in to two centipedes at that point. Players can move their unit around the bottom of the screen using the directional buttons on their mobile phones. An auto-fire feature allows them to concentrate on maneuvering, lining up to shoot descending enemies or avoiding them when they reach the bottom of the screen. The game's sound effects mimic those of the original arcade game, and a number of colorful, higher-definition backgrounds are available, in addition to the classic black. ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide
