The main character in Cool Spot is the red dot from the 7-UP soda logo who has the ability to jump as well as shoot soda from his fingertips. Players take him on a quest to rescue more red dots who are imprisoned. Options allow players to turn the music as well as sound effects on or off. Cool Spot's difficulty level can also be placed on one of three settings.

Levels have time limits as well as save points. If a save point is reached then after the player dies they will return to the last save point reached. The character's health is represented by a picture of character. Each time you are hit the red dot picture begins to disappear.

Throughout levels are mini red dots that need to be collected. Each level requires a certain percentage of dots to be found in order to exit the level.
