Inspired by the comical, turn-based action of the Worms games (and similar in design to the contemporary Future Tacitcs), Creature Conflict: The Clan Wars pits from two to four teams of cute characters in ballistic battles across highly deformable 3D environments. Before the blasting begins, players equip their characters and place them strategically around the battlefield. Then, each character takes a turn at blowing away enemies, until only one team remains.
Turns are timed, so there's not always an opportunity to line up the perfect shot, and the wind is always shifting, causing even more uncertainty. Powerful weapons leave large holes where they hit, and the field of play can change drastically with each new crater. A terrain generator helps keep battlegrounds fresh for each new contest.
Combatants are anthropomorphic animals, complete with whimsical animations to emphasize the lighthearted nature of the game. Three different factions are available from the start, each with three different characters, but additional teams and characters may be discovered by skilled players. In addition to same-screen competition available on all platforms, Creature Conflict supports online multiplayer battles, on PlayStation 2 through the PS2 Network Adaptor and on Xbox through the Xbox Live service. ~ T.J.
