With a storyline crafted by horror master Clive Barker, Demonik casts players in the role of an enslaved demon whose sole purpose is to carry out the bidding of its master. Since the lead character is from a hellish underworld, this "bidding" most assuredly does not involve granting three magic wishes. Instead, the Demonik will maim, torture, and violate its target with a choice of more than 25 supernatural powers. Demonik's dark talents come in an assortment of forms: hellfire immolates its victims with a deadly rain of flames; plague spreads leprosy and causes limbs to fall off; swarm calls on insects to feed on its prey's flesh; and the devil's hand lets players grab and toss objects as they see fit. While the Demonik will take damage from humans and other foes during its missions of mayhem, it can avoid death by possessing a human to use as its vessel. The overall goal is to complete each level's objective so that the Demonik can eventually be freed from its sinister shackles. The game features ten levels of third-person action, taking place in guarded laboratories, factories, and more, with multiplayer deathmatch support via Xbox Live. On January 18, 2006, publisher Majesco announced it was canceling Demonik and other notable titles in development after the publisher reported significant losses during the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2005. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
