A fire-breathing dragon is holding the beautiful Princess Daphne captive. At your command is Dirk the Daring, the only knight in the land brave enough to save her. Dirk must storm the dragon's foreboding castle and free Daphne from the Dragon's Lair.

Acclaimed animator Don Bluth (The Secret of NIMH, An American Tail) helped to develop this game for its arcade premiere 11 years before its Sega CD release. The arcade version utilized laserdisc technology, making the development of a Sega CD version a logical choice for Readysoft.

Obstacle courses and interesting characters like the Lizard King challenge Dirk on his trek through the castle. Your climactic battle with the dragon to save Princess Daphne awaits you after about 20 minutes of cinema-quality animation.

Unique controls are found in Dragon's Lair as well. As you enter a room, you must press the correct combination of directions and buttons at the proper time in order to advance. Usually, a yellow light will flash to help you know which way to go.
