Renowned game designer and author Jane Jensen returns with her first game since Gabriel Knight 3 in Gray Matter, a third-person adventure in which gamers help two protagonists explore the nebulous nature of perception and reality. Written in the style of a Gothic novel, Gray Matter contains eight chapters in which players take control of Dr. David Styles, a neurobiologist widower who rarely leaves his English country estate, and Samantha Everett, an American street magician who unexpectedly becomes the doctor's assistant. Sam sets about convincing six volunteers from Oxford University to take part in the doctor's experiments, but things quickly go from simply strange to terrifyingly supernatural. Players must help Sam use her magic tricks to make her way through an increasingly bizarre series of events, all while Dr. Styles navigates the halls of Dread Hill House, seemingly haunted by visions of his beloved wife. ~ Christopher Brown, All Game Guide
