Mattel's Hot Wheels Stunt Track Driver has players controlling one of five classic die-cast cars as they race through six household environments from a side-view perspective. As the title suggests, players can perform mid-air flips, rolls, and spins to rack up bonus points and speed bursts on their way to the finish line. The authentic Hot Wheels car models are individually rated in speed, turning, stunts, and durability.

Modes of play include Tournament, Single Race, and Two Player as players race across the following settings: Boy's Bedroom, Living Room, Snow-Covered Backyard, Game Room, Kitchen, and Barn. Tournament is the main aspect of play, where players race against two computer-controlled cars in a series of tracks. A first-place finish on each course is needed to advance.
