Royal Flush Digital Pinball is a simulation of the classic 1974 Gottlieb pinball
game, Royal Flush. It was developed for the PC by Amtex and distributed by {@GT
Interactive}.
Royal Flush Digital Pinball is set up like a basic pinball machine. The player controls
two flippers on either side of the playing field and the spring loaded launch mechanism
that hurls the silver ball onto the playing surface. Royal Flush Digital Pinball also
allows players to nudge machine using the Z key on the keyboard.
During game play, players use the slippers and the nudge function to keep the silver ball
in play. Too many nudges will cause the player to "tilt." A tilt shuts down the power to
the pinball machine, and the player can only watch the silver ball disappear into the
bottom chute. A tilt does not end a player's game, unless he or she tilts on the last ball.
Royal Flush Digital Pinball allows players to open up the pinball machines back box
to adjust incline level, tilt sensitivity, maximum number of balls (three to five), and other
options. There is also a "magnet ball mode" which means that at certain times, the
machine will use magnets to pull the ball in odd directions. Top scores are added to the
hall of fame, which can be accessed at the main start-up screen.
Royal Flush Digital Pinball gives players two options for game play: a scrolling
playing surface and a stationary playing surface.
The scrolling surface moves with the ball so the entire playing field is not always seen.
The scrolling field gives larger and sharper graphics.
The stationary playing field puts the entire playing surface on the screen, but the graphics
are smaller and not as sharp. ~ Anthony Baize, All Game Guide
