Sheep, as the game's title so succinctly conveys, are the focus of this Lemmings-styled puzzler. Twenty-eight peril-laden stages await players, who, as one of four different herders -- Adam Halfpint, Motley, Shep and Bo Peep -- must guide a flock of blissfully ignorant sheep on a mass exodus so that they can once again be reunited with their brethren. Contrary to popular belief, sheep are in fact the most intelligent beings on the planet. In fact, the highly intelligent, space-faring sheep were originally sent to Earth to observe humanity. However, their idle, relaxed existence has, over the years, caused their IQ to drop substantially. And now it falls to you to ensure safe passage for these fluffy extraterrestrials.

To do this, players must carefully herd small flocks of the critters through a myriad of death-inducing traps and ultimately, ensure that a minimum number of sheep reach the level exit within the allotted time. Easily scared, the sheep react to your herder's every movement; bolting in a given direction should he/she charge them, scattering or generally just ambling in any number of directions. The herder can also shout at the herd, in an attempt to speed them up, but depending on the herder and the sheep type used, this may see them scamper off in random directions. Your herder can also pick up a single sheep and carry it should the need arise. A top-down view follows the proceedings, allowing players to carefully coax their flock around each of the themed levels, while avoiding spinning blades, farm equipment, electric fences and other such deadly implements. Four different varieties of sheep can be controlled, namely, modern pastoral, modern factoral, long wool and neo genetics, with each group exhibiting unique behavior such as faster or slower movement.

To aid them in their travels, power-ups can be obtained that run the gamut from candy to radios, the latter of which causes the sheep to blindly, and somewhat more obediently, follow you for a limited period of time. A smattering of humorous CG cutscenes are interspersed throughout the title that depict the sheep in various scenarios.
