Following in the footsteps of such successful endeavors as the classic Sim City, Sim Ant, and Sim Life, Maxis brings the dedicated sim-er Sim Town. Designed for kids between the ages of eight and 12, this game gives them the chance to build their own bustling little town while learning about how real towns, such as their own, really work.

Budding suburban planners get to decide where to place roads, bicycle paths, trees, ponds and other aspects of the terrain first. Then they get to build homes, businesses and fun stuff like arcades, movie theaters, and zoos. Don't forget the important places like libraries, schools, and fire stations!

Every sim in Sim Town is unique, which is sure to give kids hours of fun. They can name their sims and give them personalities, and they can even click on them individually to hear what each of them has to say about their mayor. There is also a newspaper which reflects the events going on in the town and gives the player handy tips.

The key to this game is balance; kids will need to learn how to balance all the elements in the town. In addition to planning all the buildings, kids will get an idea from a natural resource indicator whether or not there are pollution, garbage, or water supply problems.

Kids will need to keep a watchful eye even on a well-run town, though, because this game also features eco-villains and natural disasters which can strike at any moment. ~ Brad Cook, All Game Guide
