Are you interested in our solar system? If so, Space Academy GX-1 covers a variety of topics with an interactive teaching system where you answer questions to earn points and establish yourself somewhere between the level of Cadet and Admiral. Each of the three games or areas of the academy offers a maximum of 1000 points.
The EarthSunMoon simulator tests your knowledge of the orbits, spatial relationships between celestial bodies, passage of time, and explains how to calculate phases of the moon and eclipses. Also discussed is the rotational properties of planets and moons as a series of animation clips cover salient points.
The Planetary Data Center is the repository for information pertaining to the planets and space travel. Determine which safety devices a spaceship needs to survive a journey to each planet or moon, learn about the mass, size, direction, speed of rotation and revolution of moons and planets, and help team members evaluate information.
While in the Pilot Gravity Trainer, test your knowledge of gravity, trajectories and orbits by deciding how much thrust and the angle of lift required to hit a target, reach orbit, or establish a stable orbit. The journey begins on Earth and moves to other planets and moons throughout the solar system.
As an adjunct to learning about the solar system, if you reach Admiral status by answering enough questions correctly, you receive a diploma and take over the space academy, although play can continue. Teachers or parents can track a child's progress via an in-game report, accessible from the sign in option screen. ~ Lisa Karen Savignano, All Game Guide
