In Street Fighter you are a martial arts expert by the name of Ryu. You want to test your fighting skill against the combatants of different nationalities. While traveling through China, Thailand, the U.S.A., Japan, and England, you'll engage in one-on-one punch and kick fests against Sagat, Adon, Gen, Lee, Eagle, Birdie, Mike, Joe, Geki, and Retsu. These fighters are purportedly the best in the world.

Each fighting match consists of a best of three rounds tournament with the winner awarded bonus points for remaining time and energy. After defeating both opponents in a particular country, you must engage in a bonus round involving karate chopping a pile of concrete slabs.
