Designed as a quirky homage to the simple storylines and unforgiving difficulty of classic side-scrolling platformers, Super Meat Boy finds players controlling the titular slab of meat as he sets off to rescue his girlfriend Bandage Girl from the clutches of Dr. Fetus, a tuxedo-clad fetus in a jar. Gamers must run, jump, and cling to walls as they attempt to avoid buzz saws, salt, and other deadly impediments strewn throughout more than 300 levels.

There are five chapters in all, and players may take on the levels in any order they please, but a specific number of levels in each chapter much be completed before gamers can take on that chapter's boss battle. Finding hidden bandages or warp zones will allow players to unlock more than 20 characters from other popular independent games, including Alien Hominid, Gish, and Tim from Braid. ~ Christopher Brown, All Game Guide
