Mario's imperial inamorata graces the Nintendo DS in a side-scrolling platform game modeled after the Super Mario Bros. series. After more than 20 years of playing the victim or taking a secondary role, the tables have finally turned for the famed Princess: it is she who must rescue Mario and Luigi from Bowser's coarse clutches. Peach will advance through eight themed areas in a new locale called Vibe Island while running, jumping, and defeating enemies using her magical parasol. Her royal highness can also channel her emotional state into one of four special abilities based on joy, rage, gloom, and calm. Each state or "vibe" is powered-up by collecting gems or absorbing enemies through the vacuum-like parasol before it can be activated on the touch screen.

Depending on the power, Peach may be able to solve puzzles or defeat her foes more easily. Peach's joy, for example, allows her to create gusts of wind for higher jumps, blowing away enemies, and spinning objects like windmills. Peach's rage has her catching on fire, burning items or enemies in her path. Gloom causes the princess to run quickly for a short time, and her tears will help nearby flora to flourish. Peach's calm vibe taps into her meditative powers, where she slowly regains lost health while being granted temporary invincibility. Super Princess Peach features an assortment of mini-games and special challenges that unlock during the course of play. The game also offers multiple endings based on the number of imprisoned Toad characters Peach releases within each level. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
