One of the most fondly remembered sports franchises from the 8- and 16-bit era is resurrected for a new generation of gamers in Tecmo Bowl: Kickoff. Though it no longer carries an NFL license, the game features 32 teams located all across the U.S., and it still lets players hit the gridiron for classic, arcade-style football. Gamers can customize their team's colors, logo, home city, player names, and playbooks, and new "Super Abilities" let players perform over-the-top maneuvers. Tecmo Bowl: Kickoff harkens back to its predecessors by featuring minimalist playbooks and dramatic cut-scenes, but it also makes use of modern technology by letting gamers participate in both local and global wireless multiplayer action. ~ Christopher Brown, All Game Guide
