The Sims 3 Plus Showtime package includes the full, main edition of The Sims 3 and the game's sixth major expansion pack, Showtime. In The Sims 3, players interact with an entire neighborhood. Instead of playing each family discretely on its individual lot as in previous Sims games, players can take their characters anywhere in town -- to a friend's house, out to a restaurant, to a favorite park, or even to work. No matter which Sim the player is currently following, however, all the characters in the neighborhood are active whenever the game is being played.

The Sims 3: Showtime expansion pack adds celebrity entertainer career paths to the game, encouraging the creation of performance artist characters and "rags to riches" narratives. It also adds a number of real-world social features, allowing players to share characters and swap stories (over an Internet connection) without leaving their own virtual neighborhoods. Construction-minded Showtime gamers can create their own performance venues, from backrooms and indie clubs to concert halls and massive arenas.
