In one of Infocom's earliest all-text adventures, you're a hard-bitten gumshoe trying to solve a murder mystery. The game's well-written descriptions drip film noir from every sentence, setting the scene very well. The stash of period-style detective magazines and other items included with the game help to complete the time warp, as well as offering a few handy clues along the way. It's easy to get a little bit engrossed in the 1940s "mean streets" milieu of Witness, and fans of that genre of TV and film will find this game to be a real treat. ~ Earl Green, All Game Guide
