Pro b-ball fans can while away the pre-game banter and halftime breaks with a friendly round of cards on their Nintendo 3DS handhelds. The electronic versions of Top Trumps are based on the series of specialty-deck card games, first introduced in the United Kingdom in the late '70s and re-launched in 1999 by Winning Moves with an expanding line of themed decks. In the NBA All Stars edition, each card shows a different pro basketball star, along with numerical ratings in a list of categories. Cards are distributed evenly between the players at the start of a game. The first player turns over the top card, chooses a category, and then compares the NBA star's rating in that category to those listed on the other players' cards. The card with the highest rating score in the chosen category wins the round, and all the cards that were in play are added to the winner's pile. As in the traditional card game "War," the object is to win all the cards in the deck, completely defeating the other players. ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide
