This bundle includes all three previously released Tropico titles.
Tropico is a development simulation in which the player becomes the dictator of a small Caribbean island, at least vaguely reminiscent of Cuba. The only real goal of the game is to stay in power, but the ease of this task is influenced by hundreds of dynamic factors that determine the island's status and its citizen's satisfaction. Unlike the populace in classic "sand-box" games, such as SimCity or even Caesar III, each citizen in Tropico exists as a unique entity, affected by upbringing, education, job, and living conditions. However, unlike the direct interface of a character-based life simulation such as The Sims, the Tropico player cannot control these virtual charges directly. The dictator must persuade and manipulate the citizens of Tropico into behaving in a particular way.
Paradise Island is an expansion package for the original Tropico. Players guide their sunny island nation through such potentially devastating adversity as tropical storms, livestock diseases, and "Red Tide" algae blooms. The pack includes over 20 additional scenarios, as well as new buildings and vehicles to support the military endeavors and tourist trade of the player's banana republic.
In Tropico 2: Pirate Cove, players rule over a 17th century Caribbean island hideaway and all its unsavory inhabitants. Instead of a 20th century Third World dictator, Tropico 2 players become "Pirate Kings." While the island domain is still the focus, players now govern over high seas brigands and captured peasants instead of indigenous laborers and ephemeral tourists. Commodities such as canned fish and souvenirs are replaced with goods like cannons and muskets. The goal is to create a perfect pirate paradise, with the bawdy appeal to attract talented buccaneers and the facilities to make sure they are properly trained and equipped. ~ T.J.
