In the turn-based war game, World War II: Battles of the South Pacific, you play the part of either the Japanese or United States theater commander. Options to play single battles (Quick Games), specific missions (Battles) or campaigns (long scenarios up to a year's length) are included. The game features both two-person play either face-to-face or over modem and one person against the computer. The interface is mouse driven in conjunction with a menu system. Aircraft and ship capabilities are for the most part historically based as are weapons effectiveness. World War II: Battles of the South Pacific focuses on the 1942-43 time frame and tactical warfare with complete player management in areas such as morale, equipment, infantry battles, carrier strikes, fuel distribution and more. The game includes a full complement of scaled pictures depicting actual ships and aircraft in addition to graphics of typical and major war events (e.g., bombings, sub attacks, ships sinking). ~ Michael L.
