Group Details

Bio:

This is a group for Music Recommendations. It's pretty straightforward, really, but in case you are dumb I will explain: Come here if you want to recommend something you are listening to or if you wish to request recommendations. To illustrate, here is a play I have written:

Virgil: Hey, I'm looking for a traditional metal band with good singing and and some sweet guitars.

Yadier: Well, check out Iron Maiden. How you have not done so yet it beyond me, though, since they've been around since 1845.

Virgil: Oh ok. Where should I begin?

Yadier: Number of the Beast is a good album so buy it.

And there you go. Ha ha, that Virgil... how has he not heard of Iron Maiden?!? Seriously!

Music dicussion is also cool.

I think maybe people like Tiga or Blackstrobe in the more electro vein at the time began to be more popular and the indie rock scene started to get more electronic without having to be so harsh going more toward the indietronica stuff(postal service, midwest product, etc). I think a lot of the people that were doing electroclash started to lean more into post-punk or garage.

I have all of those artists except for Greg Davis, so I'll queue him up for download! Also Matt and Kim - that's one I've not heard.

Whatever happened to electroclash, anyway? I thought that was really really popular for a while and no new bands seem to be interested in making it anymore.

Just off the top of my head Greg Davis comes to mind. Acoustic guitar and chill IDM. The Books would be another but they are more sample based. Cut and paste type stuff with less guitar focus. The Notwist is right in the middle. Textbook example of indietronica. Um leaning to the more indie or electro clash side there is always !!! (chk!chk!chk!), The Rapture, The Faint, I dunno maybe Radio 4. That's getting more into the dance punk / disco punk stuff... Um I guess Matt and Kim sort of fit to. They are more of raw pop electronic. I dug em. I'll try to think of some more I know I have lots in my collection.

I've been a fan of guitars for 11 years, and a fan of electronica for 6. The only combination I've been able to find that isn't straight up industrial thus far is 65daysofstatic and Ratatat. Not that there's anything wrong with industrial, it's great, I've just been looking for something more of coming at that combination from a different direction.

So that's the challenge: guitar based electronica. Is it out there?
