2D Fighting
Style
Games in this style feature close-quarters fighting between two-dimensional character sprites that move back and forth along a single axis. Punching, kicking, jumping, and special moves are common in games of this genre. Fights typically have a time limit and may consist of multiple rounds. There are usually several characters with different abilities from which to choose. Most often, the object is to drain an opponent's life meter to win each round or bout, best accomplished by stringing together a combination of offensive moves (commonly referred to as "combos").
