00.19's What to Watch for Wednesday

A wise man once said, "Every comic is somebody's first." I tend to agree, and think this week all these comics should be yours. Each Tuesday*, I'm going to be here to help you find what comic books to check for, as well as their price, on Wednesday at your Local Comic Shop. Hence the title.
*Normally, a holiday prior to Wednesday means books won't come out until Thursday. For whatever reason, this week the holiday didn't count, and I didn't find out until today. So, sorry for the late post, but it's here for you now. Anyway, on to the list. (This week is unintentionally Marvel heavy)
DC Comics

Teen Titans #55
A really great jumping on point. Sean McKeever has done a fair job filling in Geoff Johns' shoes. This issue doesn't look like it will disappoint. Following up the "Titans of Tommorow" story arc, this issue provides a breather for the Titans, as well as promising the intrduction of a new villain. $2.99 well spent.
Marvel Comics

YOUNG AVENGERS PRESENTS #1
Remember when I told you there were some good story points to come out of the TRUTH: RED, WHITE AND BLACK? One of them was the character Patriot. This is another great issue for newcomers to jump on as this series is a bunch of one offs catching up with the Young Avengers. Their series, which I miss dearly, was great (There'll be a POINT OF ORIGIN about that series soon, believe me). This issue is written by Ed "Everything I Write is Amazing" Brubaker. That means it's totally worth your $2.99.

THE ORDER #7
Spinning out of "Civl War", THE ORDER follows a government sponsored super-team based in California. Seven issues into their run, Matt Fraction and Barry Kitson haven't missed yet. Last issue's cliffhanger gets its payoff in this one, and I personally can't wait. I know what you're thinking. So what if you didn't read the last issue? Read this one. See how great it is, then pick up the other six while you're at the shop. You'll be caught up, and anxiously awaiting next month. You won't believe this much awsome only cost $2.99.

X-MEN #207
The annual big old X-Men event, Messiah CompleX, concludes here. Every part of this saga has been better and better (especially the parts written by Mike Carey). This issue will set up at least the next year's worth of story in the X-Men comics. Don't miss out. Seriously, for $2.99 you can't go wrong.

ASTONISHING X-MEN #24
The second to last issue of Joss Whedon's and John Cassaday's excellent run. This book has been entertaining from the start. Whedon's writing has been typically Whedonesque, and if you've never seen John Cassaday's art, well... shame on you. Pick this up. You'll want to the read the rest after this. If actual John Cassaday art only cost $2.99 you'd want it, so why not own this smaller version which Joss Whedon has scribbled over?
TRADE PAPERBACK/HARDCOVER of the WEEK
METAL GEAR SOLID: THE COMPLETE HARDCOVER
Seeing as how this is a video game website, I figure I can't go wrong recommending this bad boy. If you've ever played one of the Metal Gear games for PSP, you know Ashley Wood's art. He does pretty much all the cut scene art work. Now imagine all that beauty in one hardbound volume retelling the PS1 game in graphic novel form for only $55. Yes, that was your brain pulsating at the prospect of being able to bear witness to that much genius in one collection. If that doesn't get your panties bunched, how about a look at what's in store for you?

288 pages of this stuff will melt your brain.
Next week... More comics!
