Coming To A Shelf Near You
The Latest McFarlane, NECA, And DC Gaming Figures.
by 00.19
It's been a long time since we've had any major gaming action figure news, but today I managed to find some info on the latest and greatest figures you can expect to hit shelves this spring/summer.
We'll start things off DC Direct, whose gaming figures have largely been based on NPCs from World of Warcraft, but are now branching out to include some nice looking PlayStation 3 branded toys. The above Ratchet and Clank series has yet to be dated, but looks pretty sweet nonetheless. I will definitely be getting the Ratchet (who hopefully comes with Clank). Who can't use a little more Lombax in his life?
DC's also got these nifty Resistance figures dropping this year. They are publishing a comic series based on the game as well, and I'm sure that has something to do with this set being produced. Perhaps these two series are also being put out since DC has a little bit of a developmental relationship with Sony (remember, Sony's making the DCU MMO). While I enjoyed Resistance 2, I'm not really in the market for a Nathan Hale figure, but I've seen the build up close, and it looks really nice if you were curious.
Not to be outdone on the action figure based on a shooter front, McFarlane Toys has yet another series of Halo toys arriving at your local toy shop. Included are some more armored Spartan variants, as well as some new Covenant forces, but more importanly, you'll now be able to own you very own Sgt. Avery Johnson figure. Who else is going to boss all your minature Master Chiefs around? McFarlane also has plans for a weapons pack based on the guns found in Halo Wars.
Last but not least, NECA has a new wave of Street Fighter IV figures dropping in a few months. Guile, Chun Li, and Akuma will be making their super-articulated appearnce in the next series. ToyNewsInternational.com had these latest pics from the 2009 Toy Fair, and one would think that NECA has another solid line-up planned to follow. Who will be next? I don't know, but I seem to remember a certain luchador being highly reagarded at NECA's offices.
If you remember, we got to see prototypes of NECA's planned Resident Evil 5 line, and now we've got images of the April shipping figures straight from the source. Chris Redfield (with an insane 25 points of articulation) and Sheva Alomar (with an almost equally insane 20 points of articulation) would make a welcome addtion to any gamer's shelves. I'll definitely be grabbing both of these since I can't stop playing the game, and the figures look so damned good. The first series will also include this guy:
Yikes. And yes, his axe will be to scale.
That should just about wrap it up. I'll be keeping my eyes out for more gaming related action figures, so be sure to stay tuned to Gamervision for more.
