New Samus Statue Lights Up Your Life.

Coming to a Shelf Near You: Metroid Statues and NECA's SDCC Exclusives.

by 00.19

Summer convention season is upon us, and that means new statues and figures are hitting shelves and emptying wallets at a record pace. From First 4 Figures' Metroid Prime Samus Phazon Suit statue to the latest exclusive figures from NECA, we've got you covered.

Way back when at the 2008 New York Comic Convention, we got a glimpse at some of the Nintendo based statues First 4 Figures was producing. The latest in their line based on the Metroid Prime series, Phazon Suit Samus, is now up for pre-order.

The Suit is cast in transparent resin so that the 25 LED lights are able to work their magic transforming an already sweet-looking statue into a completely badass one. Limited to just 1500 pieces, this $224.99 piece would look fantastic in just about any gamer's living room. Despite the fact that it's a bit out of my price range, if I was ever going to save up some money for something cool, this would definitely crack the top three.

Not to be outdone is some sweet video game licensed collectibles, NECA has unveiled their San Diego Comic Con exclusives, and man are they kick ass. Starting with what is sure to be the most sought after figure of the summer, Dead Space's Issac Clarke gets one hell of a variant.

Even though the standard figure hasn't hit shelves, my anticipation for this limited run alternate couldn't be higher. Donning the Unitology Suit, which is the final upgrade players can unlock, and complete with LED lights in all the right places, this figure is sure to go fast. Here's hoping I can sweet talk my way into convincing NECA we need one for research here at the Gamervision offices.

Joining Issac in San Diego this July will be the Lambent Locust Grenadier from Gears of War 2. You may remember our very early look at the figure last November when we got to tour NECA's studio.

While the figure looks cool here, you don't really get an idea of how cool it looks when backlit. Thankfully, I just so happen to have a picture on hand of what you can expect when you bring this figure home.

Street Fighter IV's Guile will also be getting a new paint job. This time he'll be donning the costume of his military buddy Charlie. Complete with 30 points of articulation, any Street Fighter fan would be remiss in not adding this figure to their collection.

On the not-so-video-game-related side of the coin, NECA also has plans to release an April O'Neil figure, complete with Mouser accessories, for their TMNT line, as well as a new Coraline figure in a new star spangled sweater.

If none of those figures captured your interest, I'm not so sure you're as in to gaming as you keep telling people you are. I'm definitely going to make an effort to grab just about everything I just talked about, and depending on what else NECA unveils at this weekend's Wizard World Philadelphia comic convention, a few more things just might get added to my "Must Have" list.

Be sure to check back this weekend to see just what news we can pry from NECA and all the other companies at this weekend's Wizard World convention.

Yeah, the Issac Clarke is awesome, and I kind of have my eyes on the Coraline.

any statue/figurine that lights up is awesome in my book. we have a balrog that glows red and looks awesome in a dark room. samus is a tad expensive, though.

That Samus is fantastic, but I'm not nearly enough of a Metroid fan to spend that much money. NECA's figures are awesome too, I especially like the Dead Space one.
