Damnation Developers Dumped
Codemasters Cut Contest Winners.
by 00.19

Kotaku is reporting that the entire Damnation deveopment team, Blue Omega, has been released following several "issues" with publisher Codemasters. According to several employees, the mass firings came as a result of a handful of lawsuits between Blue Omega, Codemasters, and a few subcontracted studios. I'm fairly certain the fact that the game being absolutely terrible had a part to play as well.
It sucks when you lose your job, believe me I get it, but in this case, I can kind of see Codemaster's point. Damnation was bad. Really bad. One of the only reasons it even got made was because it won a contest sponsored by Epic Games, and that's all well and good, but when the final product is as horrible as Damnation ended up being, maybe this is for the best. Now I'm not saying these people deserve to be unemployed. I'm saying that maybe this will serve as motivation to put out a better product next time. If there is a next time anyway.

It's sad when anyone loses a job, but for real, the people that made Damnation really should find a new line of work.
ouch. that's a lot of people laid off all at once. ever notice that games (or movies or any kind of media) that only get made because they won a contest are never, ever good?
