Dark Void Plummets To 2010
2010 Is The New Black.

This may come as a bit of a surprise, but yet another game has had its 2009 release date pushed to 2010. This time, Capcom nixed the reported September 22nd launch day of Dark Void, opting instead for an as yet undertermined day somepoint during the next calendar year.
According to Joystiq, Capcom's Chris Kramer said the delay was "in order to get the game out of the crowded fall game season." Yes, well that's all well and good, except for the fact that 2010 isn't exactly lacking in majorly anticipated releases. I'm not all that upset that Dark Void got delayed, at most I was hoping to watch someone else play, but this current trend of delaying games at the slightest hint of competition bothers me. Sure, Dark Void was likely going toe-to-toe with Halo: ODST, but so what? Left 4 Dead 2 is going up against Assassin's Creed 2. Brutal Legend is going up against Tony Hawk Ride. DJ Hero is taking on Forza 3 and Tekken 6. I don't see any of those games backing down from one another.
Perhaps for a new IP things are a bit different, but they shouldn't be. To me, this situation falls into one of two categories. Either the game is really good, and Capcom wants to give it a fair chance, or the game is absolute rubbish, and it's going to need all the sales it can get in an effort to break even. Looks like we're going to have to wait a bit longer then anticipated to find out which camp Dark Void will end up falling in.

Damn, all these push-backs are rough. This one looks promising, hopefully the wait does it some good.
I'm feeling positive about the game delays, since for the most part it means developers are willing to give games more time and polish, and we will have more money and time this winter.
That being said, if Brutal Legend or Uncharted 2 was delayed, I'd be heartbroken. This I can live without for a few more months.
