I don't know how I missed Gizmodo's first look at the Zune HD in action, but now that I've seen it, I can't get the damn thing out of my head. I'm neither an Apple or Microsoft fanboy (I love OSX and Windows), but I've always been much more partial to the Zune over the iPod. Now that Microsoft has stepped their game up tremendously in the portable media player market, I can't help but think the bridge between the two companies is closing. At least in that particular department anyway.

After watching their brief user interface video (which you can see below), it appears that the Zune HD actually has a leg up on the iPod Touch in the ease, interactivity, and speed of the menu. While most of the screen is blurry in the video, you can get a good idea of just how focused Microsoft is on showcasing the resolution of the screen. The thumbnails are bigger, the screen appears more vibrant, and the accelerometer is lightning quick. Whatever the release date will be, it's certainly not near enough.
