E3 10: New XCOM Trailer Showcases Combat, Weapons
I Have No Idea What's Happening, But It Looks Cool.

I'll admit to being the the guy who doesn't know very much about the original X-Com, which makes understanding the nuances of this trailer all the more difficult. That said, this trailer has me absolutely hooked on the reboot/re-imagining of the franchise. I'm an absolute sucker for the era this game takes place in (the 50s), and science-fiction has always been one of my favorite genres (right behind noir). And to be perfectly honest, the moment the two protagonists walk through that woman's front door, I was in hook, line, and sinker. To me, that one single shot perfectly exemplified my hopes for this game.
The weapons on display look pretty cool, and even though a few of the items look a bit too sciencey for the time period, I'm going to allow it. I mean, in a game where alien tech blobs roam free, you kind of have to raise your suspension of disbelief. It's nice to see that the camera gameplay from BioShock and BioShock 2 has snuck in, or at least it looks like it has. Researching my enemies was one of the more interesting components to the gameplay in those games, and if I'm some sort of government agent, it makes sense that I'd want to document the alien occurences. I'm really looking forward to what Coop and Sarah have to say about this game when they see it at E3 this week, and I hope you are too.

Hey guys! I found BioShock! It's hiding in the suburbs.
Looks neat, I don't know if I'd get bored shooting inky blobs over and over again though.
