It's been nearly six months since we've heard any word on 2K's upcoming third-person shooter Spec Ops: The Line. E3 is usually the time of year to rectify a situation like that, and we've been treated to a new trailer showing off slick gameplay and a devastated Dubai. I was pretty interested in this game when it was announced, thanks in large part to the Heart of Darkness overtones so prevalent in the original trailer. After getting to see some more action, Spec Ops: The Line is officially a game I'm going to play.
I've got to say, I like the look of this game. There's a real sense of desperation on the streets, and the combat looks pretty intense. It almost feels like a more intense modernized Rapture, where the city has given up on itself, but is somehow still surviving. 2K's influence might have a bit to do with that, but I'm interested to see what Yager can do with this game. There's potential here for something captivating. Of course, there's also potential for this game to fail miserably. I'll reserve my final judgment until I actually get a chance to try it, but I hope Coop and Sarah have good things to say about Spec Ops when they get back from E3.
