Even though there's been no indication from EA that EA Sports MMA wouldn't be arriving in stores in 2010, it looks like certain retailers aren't expecting the title until next year at the earliest. Now I don't want to make it seem like I'm claiming the sky is falling, but if EA's not planning to release their forthcoming MMA title until 2011, then it had better be freaking awesome, otherwise it won't stand a chance against THQ's UFC Undisputed, which will be well on its way to a third title in as many years.

EA has mentioned that the title is due sometime this year, but hasn't really nailed down any specifics. They've also not really shown a whole lot of the game, save for a brief amount of footage, and a handful of screenshots. EA's done a pretty good job of announcing the fighters appearing in the game fairly often, and even though they don't have very many household names, the roster is shaping up quite nicely.

I definitely think there's enough room on the market for two MMA games, and as long as both of them are entertaining, I'll likely support both titles. Even though I don't follow very many of the fighters in Strikeforce or DREAM, if EA's game has solid controls, it won't matter who the fighters are. Even though this release date is far from finalized, and this date comes from Gamestop, who has been known to get release dates wrong from time to time, I hope we hear from EA on this front very soon.
