EA MMA Signs Fedor Emelianenko

All Right, But What Else Ya Got?

by 00.19

In another strong case for Twitter becoming the place for breaking news, EA today announced that former Pride and Affliction champion Fedor Emelianenko will be headlining their 2010 fighting title, EA MMA. While the rumors about Fedor's involvement have been making the rounds since the game was first unveiled, it's now officially official.

Rob Semsey, a PR representative for EA Sports, had this to say on his Twitter account.

Fedor comes to EA SPORTS MMA!

For years, the UFC has been trying to get Fedor to agree to a contract with the company to fight, but now that the organization he used to fight for (Affliction) is out of business, a deal was rumored to be in the works to bring the highly touted heavyweight into the octagon. Of course, with Dana White's stance on EA right now, one has to wonder whether or not those contract talks are in jeopardy.

There's very little actual information about EA's MMA effort at this point. As a matter of fact, this news is about the only thing we know about the game other than that it exists. In the coming months, we should learn more about not only the roster, but just what kind of fight mechanics we can expect. For now, this will have to do. Frankly, I'm not sure this is a big enough draw to get me interested. Like the rest of you, I guess I'll just have to wait and see what comes next.
