Fallout 3 DLC Details Emerge
Fight the Chinese with New Perks
by 00.19

In an interview with IGN, Jeff Gardiner, lead designer for Fallout 3's DLC, let the details fly about the forthcoming content for Bethesda's sci-fi RPG. Hitting consoles first will be "Operation Anchorage," a new 4-5 hour set of missions taking place in a VR training simulator set during the Chinese invasion of Alaska. For 800
, players will be able to unlock new weapons, armors, and other gadgets (which will all be transferable into the regular game) to combat the Red Army menace. There will also be a new perk called "Covert Ops," and even though the actual details are sparse, you can probably figure this perk will have an impact on your Sneak related abilities.

Jeff had little to say about the other previously announced DLC packs, "The Pitt" and "Broken Steel," but did manage to reveal a new level cap was coming with "Broken Steel," as well new foes, perks, weapons, and armors. I'm super excited for this content. I haven't put 60+ hours into a game in a long time, and I would love to spend even more time in the world of Fallout 3. New weapons alone would be worth it for me to go back into the world, but throw in another 12-15 hours of gameplay (combined), and it's a done deal.

I think I have spent more hours on Fallout 3 than I did on my last relationship. Come to think of it, she was shouting something or other about Fallout when she left. I wonder what that was all about?
I still haven't gotten my hands on this game. I know, I know. I'm an idiot.
So after reading this I checked the official Bethesda forums for any word on what the pricing would be for PC. Turns out they are doing it through Games for Windows Live, which means you have to purchase it with Microsoft points. Now, for us PC/360 owners, that's all good. But there's a little bit of an uproar from PC purists who have basically no use for the excess 200 Microsoft points. Kind of a shitty situation for them.
I think they are all just salty it isn't free like the Oblivion PC updates.
While the points thing is weak, you can use the points for the other DLC.
True, but even after buying all three (if they stay priced at 800), you're going to end up with a few hundred points left over and nothing to do with 'em. Unless they make more content, but that should only continue the cycle.
If worse comes to worse, you can just buy them with a credit card.
