As November 7th draws near, more information about Gears of War 2 starts finding its way to the internets. The announcement that there are no plans for a PC version of the game comes as quite a surprise. Especially considering Cliff Blezinski's reasoning:

"Here's the problem right now, the person who is savvy enough to want to have a good PC to upgrade their video card, is a person who is savvy enough to know bit torrent to know all the elements so they can pirate software."

I'm not quite certain how owning a computer good enough to run GoW2 means you're a software pirate. It's likely, but that doesn't necessarily make it true. Of course, not evey bit of news is disappointing. Rumors have begun spreading about free downloadable multiplayer maps. Supposedly, there will be 5 free maps from GoW remade (think Gridlock) with the new Unreal Engine given for free with a purchase of GoW2. That's pretty cool, and makes sense for them to give those levels away for free. I would gladly pay for the remade levels, but I will definitely enjoy them for nothing as well.

The last morsel comes from an interview with Cliff where he speaks about a new character, the Scourge, being made available in multiplayer. I know- you think a new character being available in multiplayer isn't a big deal. What about that new character weilding a dual chainsaw staff? Is that something you'd be interested in? I thought as much. While that is pretty cool, what would make it better is if that weapon is available to everyone in the game in any mode. Hopefully that's not a pipe dream because you can never have too many chainsaws. I guess we'll find out how much of this comes to light. Despite the words coming straight from Cliff on many of these updates, if Fable 2 has taught me anything, until the game is in my 360, I'll remain forever a skeptic
