Sony's fairly predicatible. Even though for the past few months there's been a mysterious 04.01.10 release date for God of War III listed on Gamestop's website, I didn't doubt for one second that the game was coming out in March. All three of the other God of War games arrived at some point during the third month of the year, and there was absolutely no reason to think that Sony would break their already established precedent. Late last night, it was discovered that Gamestop's previously vague date was replaced with a much more firm 03.16.10 release. Despite complaints about their accuracy, you don't have to look far to see that more often than not, Gamestop's release dates are pretty damn spot on.

Now, my only problem with Kratos coming in March is that the month is going to be jam-packed with some of my most anticipated titles of the year. I'm sure that God of War III will be more than able to hold its own against games like Final Fantasy XIII, MLB 10, Resonance of Fate, Just Cause 2, Metro 2033, and possibly Yakuza 3, but I'm just as certain that the sheer amount of games coming out that month may overwhelm some gamers, and force them to make some tough cuts from their immediate must buy list. I guess what I'm saying is, please buy Yakuza 3 no matter what other games you buy. This is the last chance for this franchise in America. God of War III is going to sell. FFXIII is going to sell. If Yakuza doesn't put up solid numbers, we may never see another game from that excellent series again, and that will make me pretty unhappy.
