Grand Slam Tennis Delayed Due to Success of EA Sports Active
360 and PS3 Owners Left In Lurch Due to Expansion.

Joystiq is reporting that due to the rampant success of EA Sports Active, the high-definition version of Grand Slam Tennis won't be coming out this year. Peter Moore revealed that part of the EA Sports dev team was required on getting an expansion for the personal training simulator out in time for the holidays, so fans of tennis will have to wait just a bit longer for a chance to play EA's upcoming entry into the fold.
I'm a bit disappointed. I was really looking forward to seeing just what EA had planned for the game. I think Virtua Tennis has done nothing but tread water these last few years, and a little competition never hurt anyone. The Wii version was actually pretty fun, and though I'm sure the 360/PS3 version wouldn't have been as arcadey in look, if it was able to capture the feel of the game as well as they did on the Wii, I might just have had another reason to love EA Sports.
Hopefully the delay won't be too long, and by the spring of 2010 we'll all be able to enjoy what Grand Slam Tennis has to offer. Maybe this is a good thing. Extra time to develop a game never hurt, and even if there's nothing wrong with the game they were making, those extra weeks will go a long way to making an even better product.

Well... to be honest, I'm more interested in the EA Sports Active expansion than tennis.
That is such a hot photo!
